The Hunter: How Zero operates at Camp

bitingcynicismI am sticky-noting this because I did not realize how buried it was in my journal and it is good to have front and center. :(
As many know, Zero is Vampire Knight's version of a vampire hunter as well as a Mary Sue vampire. This sometimes gives him a few unfair advantages over other vampires, as he bends some of the rules while adhering to others. But there are some key things to keep in mind about Zero as it pertains to his Hunter abilities.
- Zero hates his vampiric side but won't lie about it. He just won't tell you about it without you figuring it out first. Zero, in general, doesn't lie.
- Zero can sense any and all vampires immediately (I extend this to dark non-humans as well). He makes no secret about this and usually tells them he knows exactly what they are. This is a Hunter trait that he has well-refined over the years and is now especially powerful that he has his full Hunter powers. That said, Zero will not go around telling other people they are vampires, as his job is to keep the peace between humans and vampires and that is usually best done without spreading this knowledge. In other words, Zero doesn't really warn people off vampires unless he knows they already know. Zero also doesn't automatically know vampire abilities (what they can do), although he might learn things from speaking with others because he's very good at info-gathering.
*As a side to this, Zero can sense vampire power levels and thereby differentiate between those vampires who were turned (ex-humans) and those vampires who were born (purebloods). He can also sense new vampires because of this. There is also the classical "recently fed" sense as well.
*Zero is generally much more of a dick toward purebloods because he has a stereotypical view of them; manipulative, using humans and viewing humans as cattle. It is pretty much impossible to change Zero's mind about this. :|b He doesn't care.
- Zero has the blood of FOUR pureblood vampires and as such is INSANELY powerful when he wants to be. Zero not only has the regular vampire abilities of enhanced senses, enhanced speed/agility and supernatural strength but has several advanced pureblood abilities.
* Zero's element is plants, particularly thorny rose vines, which grown from his gun (we'll touch on the weapon itself in a second) and can do major damage. Though they are also susceptible to Kaname's influence due to the weapon's connection to purebloods. So far, Zero has the greater control.
* Zero can telepathically shatter glass/other things if he gets worked up enough.
* Zero can take A LOT of damage without much reaction. But he still does need blood to heal.
* Zero is immune to Kaname's influence over vampires and outright rejects it. Since Kaname is pretty much de-facto Vampire King, I parse this to mean that other vampires cannot influence Zero in any way. Sorry.
- Zero has a specially designed vampire-killing gun, the Bloody Rose. It is basically magically induced to destroy vampires on contact, using some elaborate spell. Although it uses bullets, it is pretty clear that it's the Bloody Rose itself that produces the killing technique. Blah blah blah something about a pureblood sacrificing her life so humans could forge Hunter weapons out of her body/organs/something. For the sake of camp, this weapon KILLS VAMPIRES and results in significant damage to dark non-humans. If it misses, it burns its seal onto whatever it touches.
- Zero despises vampires but is under a treaty to maintain the peace. He tolerates this treaty while he figures out a better way to finish them all. At camp, Zero respects the treaty and will not start fights, although he can be a general bitch in conversations because he has NO respect for vampires whatsoever. He especially hates vampires of nobility/standing. But there are rules he follows.
* Zero cannot intervene if a human willingly allows a vampire to feed off them. :\ He will still bitch at both human and vampire about this.
* Zero cannot just attack/kill vampires at random because his job is to kill only the ones he's instructed to, usually rogue vampires or Level E vampires who have gone crazy and are killing humans.
* Zero considers it a reasonable breach of treaty if a vampire attacks a human. All bets are off and he will shoot to kill. Zero finds his purpose in killing vampires (it fulfills his bloodlust in a way) so he kind of will take it in a heartbeat.
* Zero usually monitors vampires to be sure they aren't causing trouble. But yeah, he misses stuff too since he can't be everywhere. (Let me know if you want Hunter intervention.)
*Since Kaien's arrival, Zero also answers to and takes orders from him since Kaien is the president of the Hunters Association. Zero will not break Kaien's rules, although he will be pissy they exist in the first place. In other words, if Zero is ICly getting under a vampire's skin, poke Kaien to call back his dog.
* Zero and Kaitou are de-facto partners, with Kaitou having some influence over Zero. But beware, Kaitou hates vampires more than Zero and does not have Zero's camp experiences. :x
- Zero also experiences several weaknesses due to the nature of his unique vampirism.
* Zero is dangerously emotionally unstable and sometimes has trouble controlling his vampiric nature if worked up too much.
* Zero gets tired/lethargic under too much sunlight like other vampires.
* Zero is more weak to blood than some vampires. It pings his vampirism hard.
* If Zero doesn't take his shiny blood tablets, he will go blood-crazy.
* As his snack of choice is Yuuki (the most delicious blood is the one you love), he can never truly be satisfied with tablets or anyone else. :(
* Zero needs to constantly hunt SOMETHING every night to control his bloodlust. At camp, he usually targets zombies. As he gets more restless, bloodlust increases.
