I've been finding out everything I can about the vampires here, their strengths, their weaknesses, their agendas. There are at least six types here, not including the ones from our world. Few share our similarities, but they have their own power structure.

Jasper and Alice aren't affected by the sun, aside from their other powers. Okita's hunger is a result of an experiment. The Methuselah have something in their blood that makes them crave the blood of others. Their genesis is scientific and they take pills for it, like the tablets. The vampires from Damon and Stefan's world use jewelry to withstand sunlight and can compel others. They are weaker than others of their kind here, Katherine and Elijah. Elijah is a pureblood. Jessica is among the vampires that can spread the curse without being purebloods. The vampires in her world believe they can blend in with humans while not hiding what they are.

I haven't learned as much about the other two types yet, but one's much weaker than the other.
